What is an FCA Character Coach?

One of our greatest missions is to help prepare athletes for both sport and life by giving them the opportunity to develop good character. All coaches have a game plan for the X's and O's of their sport but oftentimes do not have a solid game plan for coaching character.

An FCA Character Coach is a trained and certified volunteer who will come alongside a team to serve the coaching staff and players by helping to develop a team character game plan.

What does an FCA Character Coach do?

Here are some examples:

  • They show up! The ministry of presence alone influences team dynamics.

  • Assist in times of crisis.

  • Provide perspective and counsel for players and coaches.

  • Help define and teach the values of integrity, service, teamwork, and excellence.

  • Serve the team and coaches in practical ways both on and off the field.

  • Provide resources for player and coach development.

  • Pray for and with the team.
